Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. Remember that online counseling is not suitable if you are experiencing suicidal thoughts. In such cases you should inform your family or friends about your intentions and seek psychiatric help in the nearest hospital. You can return to counseling once your psychiatrist has advised so.

ABOUT ME

My name is Dr. Simon J. and I work as a Therapist and Mental Health Scientist. I am an expat educated in Europe and living in India. I work with adults & adolescents using the solution-focused therapy combined with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy modalities. I also work with clients who wish to deepen their self-knowledge through contemplation and to clarify the life's purpose using the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.


I work with clients online via communicators such as Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp etc. I am here to guide you through life’s most complex and difficult matters.

WHAT KIND OF THERAPY DO YOU WORK WITH?

I largely work using the solution-focused therapy because it is the most honest and the most effective modality I have experienced. I blend this method with other techniques I have learnt for over 10 years of education in therapy.

Among others, I am certified in the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy and I have completed an internship in clinical psychology working with modalities such as the Jungian analysis, art therapy, group therapy and family (systemic) therapy. I also have experience with the more contemplative method of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

IS ONLINE THERAPY EFFECTIVE?

It can certainly be effective. However, it is not equivalent to in-person sessions. Nevertheless, the online modality can improve the focus during sessions and may be more practical for people who do not wish to commute.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN ONLINE THERAPY SESSION?

It's important that you reserve this time strictly for the purpose of the session. You should be alone in a room and have a sense of absolute privacy. Make sure you have a good internet connection. Recording of the sessions is not allowed.

HOW MANY THERAPY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This is very personal but people often begin to notice sings of durable progress after about 10 sessions. I will help you re-evaluate the progress every 4-6 sessions. It normal to feel like there are "ups and downs" during the course of your therapy. It's important to stay on track and be committed.

IS EVERYTHING I SAY DURING THERAPY PRIVATE?

Yes, there is full privacy ensured. The recording of sessions in not allowed. I adhere to the Ethics Code of psychologists.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

A typical session takes 60 minutes.

WHAT WILL WE TALK ABOUT DURING THE SESSIONS?

It is entirely up to you what you wish to talk about. I work on clients' hopes and expectations from therapy by helping them develop self-knowledge about their own resources. Every session will end with a summary, recommendations and often also a home assignment for the client.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF A THERAPIST IS A RIGHT FIT FOR ME?

There is a couple of signs that you have found the right therapist for you:
-you are in a trusting relationship with your therapist
-the therapy sessions and in-between session exercises are challenging you at times
-you feel like you are putting in some work in order to achieve your desired future
-the therapist refrains from giving you advice and life directions - you should always have complete freedom of choice and control over your life
-the therapist confronts you with your most significant emotions and thoughts - even the less comfortable ones
-the therapist helps you construct a vision for your desired future rather than excessively dwelling on your past
-you start observing changes in your life and possibly also start putting yourself in new kinds of situations that can help you achieve your desired outcome
-the therapist should not insist that you continue therapy for excessively long periods of time - it's up to you how long you wish to continue
