I focus on cooperation, total honesty and an approach focused on the present and future, in which you decide how long and what you want to work on.

Among the many therapy training courses I have completed, I particularly appreciate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also completed a clinical internship for psychotherapists at the psychiatric ward of Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. I graduated from the Center for Solution Focused Therapy in Warsaw and am a scholarship holder of the Beck Institute in the USA - the founding organisation of the cognitive behavioural modality. I am also a trained psychologist, sexologist and trauma therapist at the postgraduate level. I am a member of the Polish Psychological Association (membership number KRA 0735) and the Polish Association of Solution Focused Therapy Therapists (PSTTSR).

ANSWERS TO FAQs

WHAT KINDS OF THERAPY DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work a lot with solution-focused therapy and modern cognitive behavioural therapy because these are the most sincere and effective methods I have experienced. I combine these methods with other techniques that I have learned in over 10 years of therapeutic education.

I have a certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, and I have completed an internship in clinical psychology dealing with modalities such as Jungian analysis, art therapy, group therapy and family (systemic) therapy. I also have experience with the more contemplative method of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

IS ONLINE THERAPY EFFECTIVE?

The highest quality research studies show that there is no difference in the effectiveness of online and in-person therapy (Barak, A. et al., 2008; Andrews, G. et al., 2018). Online therapy can improve concentration during sessions and can be more practical for people who are unwilling or unable to commute to the sessions.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN ONLINE THERAPY SESSION?

It is important that you reserve this time for the session only. You should be alone in the room and feel absolutely private. Make sure you have a good internet connection. Session recording is not allowed.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

This is very personal, but people often begin to notice signs of sustained progress after about 10 sessions. I will help you gauge your progress every 4-6 sessions. It is normal for "ups and downs" to occur during therapy. It's important to stay on track and be involved.

IS EVERYTHING I SAY IN THERAPY PRIVATE?

Yes, confidentiality is guaranteed under the Mental Health Act.

WHAT WILL WE TALK ABOUT DURING A SESSION?

What you want to talk about is entirely up to you. I work on my clients' hopes and expectations related to therapy, helping them develop self-awareness about their own resources. Each session ends with a summary and homework for the client.

HOW CAN I KNOW IF A THERAPIST IS RIGHT FOR ME?

There are a few signs that you have found the right therapist for you:
- you are in a trusting relationship with your therapist
- therapy sessions and exercises between sessions are sometimes challenging - you have
the impression that you are putting in a little effort to achieve the desired future
- the therapist refrains from giving advice and tips in life - you should always have complete freedom of choice and control over your life
- the therapist confronts you with the most important emotions and thoughts - even the less comfortable ones
- the therapist helps to build a vision of the desired future, instead of dwelling too much on the past
- you start to observe changes in your life and probably start to put yourself in new situations that can help you achieve the desired result
- the therapist should not insist that you continue the therapy for too long - it is up to you how long you want to continue

RECOMMENDATIONS

Dr. Szymon helped me deal with the emotional problem that I had with my mother, even though I am an adult. For a long time it was a problem for me that I could not solve for many years, despite the fact that I used the advice of other therapists before. I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet the doctor.
